Websites promote companies statewide and in Northeast Michigan

Two business connect websites promote opportunities for business to business connections and access to services statewide and in Northeast Michigan.

Two outstanding free tools are available to promote local companies’ goods and services. Michigan State University Extension partner Northern Lakes Economic Alliance works closely with both the Northeast Michigan Council of Governments and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to provide information and feedback in the development of two tools designed to promote and generate more business in Michigan.

  1. Northeast Michigan Business Connections: This excellent tool was established by the Northeast Michigan Council of Governments and provides every business throughout the eight county northeast Michigan region an opportunity to have a profile in a searchable database for those looking to do business in the northeast region.
  1. MEDC Pure Michigan Business Connect: Created and managed by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, this site is very robust and offers the platform for companies throughout the entire state of Michigan to buy and sell from each other. In addition, there are links to various programs and services as well as business to business events and suppliers summits.

To activate an account, an individual company simply has to log on, complete the contact info, enter in key search words and you are good to go. Local communities can aid in the process by promoting the websites to their local companies and host “sign up events” with computers and volunteers available to assist with the process.

Michigan State University Extension has had a unique relationship with the regional economic development organization Northern Lakes Economic Alliance (NLEA) for more than 20 years. Recognizing the strength of combining resources, this partnership focuses on economic development, entrepreneurship growth and community infrastructure throughout a four-county region in the northwest Lower Peninsula, specifically Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet counties. As a result, the NLEA utilizes resources offered through MSU Extension as it provides leadership to state-wide programs sponsored by MSU Extension.
