The Center for Regional Food Systems at Michigan State University, the Wallace Center at Winrock International, and the University of Michigan Program Evaluation Group are excited to launch the 2021 National Food Hub Survey!

Food hubs and other organizations that aggregate and distribute regional food products are encouraged to participate in the 2021 survey.

2020 was a year like no other, and food hubs across the country have faced new challenges and unprecedented demand for products and services. Taking the survey today will help the sector better understand how food hubs adapted and the impact of those changes.

How long is this going to take?

About 20 minutes, if you have ready access to financial and employee records. The 2021 National Food Hub Survey is both comprehensive AND significantly shorter than in previous years.

Sharing your voice in the National Food Hub Survey is time well spent. Survey respondents will have access to survey data and figures through a new data dashboard to support their business decisions, grant writing, and program evaluation. The more responses received, the more robust and statistically representative data will be for all food hub types, ages, and sizes. Every response helps you and your colleagues nationwide.

Not sure if you're a "food hub"?

No problem! You don’t have to call your organization a food hub to participate in the survey. We want to hear from anyone who aggregates and distributes regional food products. (It’s OK if you source and distribute non-local food products too!) The food hub sector is diverse and evolving, so it’s important that a wide variety of businesses and organizations respond to the survey. Maybe you’re still not sure if you should participate? Just reach out to us, we’re happy to discuss.

Begin the survey now to share your unique model and mission.

2020 was a hard year...

Social and political upheaval. Market, labor, and supply chain disruptions. And COVID-19 continues to impact day-to-day lives and decisions of individuals and organizations in many parts of the country. By participating in the 2021 National Food Hub Survey, you can help tell the story of how your organization adapted in these extraordinary times to meet the needs of your community. When combined with the stories of other food hubs across the country, this survey becomes a powerful tool that shapes how resources are distributed by funders, investors and government decision makers. (Explore resources developed from the 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019 surveys.)

Begin the survey now to help build a more resilient regional food system.
