Andrea Allen joined MSU as Associate Director of the USAID “Partnership for Food Industry Development – Fruits & Vegetables” program in 2005. In her current position as Associate Director for the Center for the Advanced Study of International Development (CASID) and Adjunct in Anthropology, she teaches a seminar on Economic Development and an online course on Gender and Agro-Ecosystems Development, carries out grant writing (and previously) evaluation activities, and backstops the CASID Director. Andrea’s work as a development practitioner and researcher focuses on food justice/livelihood security and inclusive approaches to food industry development from field to fork, primarily in Latin America and Africa. Most recently, she has returned to her roots to concentrate her research on inclusive approaches to food innovation districts and food hubs near her home in southwestern Michigan.
