Bio:

Ben Gratsch is an undergraduate student from Troy, Michigan.  Ben started his education at the Michigan State University in the Fall of 2019 and plans to graduate in the Fall of 2023 with a bachelor's degree in packaging and a minor in business.  He has gained experience in the packaging field working as a packaging engineer Co-Op at Steelcase in 2022.  After graduation, Ben plans to find a job as a packaging engineer.

Research focus:

The project Ben is working on involves exploring the barrier properties of novel, bio-based materials made from food waste.  The materials have the potential to replace industry standard plastic films for food packaging applications while making use of food scraps that would otherwise be discarded.
