MSU Extension

Candy Thick is a Community Nutrition Instructor with MSU Extension housed in Shiawassee
County. As a Community Nutrition Instructor Candy partners with community agencies to
provide classes in the areas of Nutrition and Health, and Physical Activity. These classes
are offered to adults and youth in both series settings and one-time presentations.

Since joining MSU Extension in 2006, Candy has held the position of Parenting Instructor
with the Building Strong Families, working with the Shiawassee County Health Department.
In 2007, Candy worked as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor with the Breastfeeding Initiative,
later becoming a Certified Lactation Specialist. Currently, as well as being a Community
Nutrition Instructor, Candy also is involved with various coalitions in the county to help serve
the needs of our residences.
