Background:

Carrie completed her associate’s degree in Biology at Lansing Community College in 2017 and her bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Wildlife at MSU in 2020, concentrating on Conservation Biology and Wildlife Biology and Management. She is currently working on her master’s in Fisheries and Wildlife with Dr. Dan Hayes and Dr. Jo Latimore as her primary advisors. Her project is studying impediments to behavioral change to minimize the spread of aquatic invasive species.

During her undergraduate career, Carrie was an active member in the Fisheries and Wildlife Club and Ducks Unlimited MSU chapter, a volunteer for Wildside Rehabilitation & Education Center, and participated in the Hal and Jean Glassen Scholars Program summer of 2019. The program placed her with the MI DNR as a student assistant to Don Avers, the lead waterfowl bander in the state. After completion of the program, Carrie was offered to maintain her position and continued on with the DNR until the Covid-19 pandemic began. Prior to her educational path, Carrie served in the United States Navy from 2010-2016 as a Nuclear Laboratory Technician and Mechanic. In her spare time, she enjoys taking walks with her two dogs, painting, playing board games, and reading.
