Tumaini Charles has more than 17 years of experience in nutrition and HIV.

Before joining ASPIRES/MSU, he worked with USAID funded Family Health International/ Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance (FANTA) project as a Technical Advisor and worked with government and development partners on Food and Nutrition Policy and Integration of Nutrition Services into routine health services delivery. He also worked with International Education and Training Centre on Health (I-TECH) as a Deputy Country Director  providing technical and management oversight to an over 5mil USD PEPFAR funded program on HIV and Health System Strengthening.  Additionally, he worked with National AIDS Control Program and Tanzania Food and Nutrition Centre to implement HIV and Nutrition interventions at national and sub-national levels. Also, he has provided short term services at UNICEF-Tanzania and Nutrition International on implementation of HIV and Nutrition programs.  

He has a second degree in human nutrition from Gent University, Belgium and a first degree in human nutrition from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania.
