Cheyenne Shields is a Michigan State University Extension program coordinator in Oakland County. She has served in this role since 2023. As part of the Oakland County 4-H team, Cheyenne will provide leadership for county-based 4-H Youth programs through 4-H clubs, after school programs, short term/special interest programs, and school enrichment efforts. She will also work to build new partnerships and recruit and train volunteers as they engage youth in 4-H activities.

Before joining MSU Extension, Cheyenne served as a Youth Counselor for Vista Maria School for Girls in Detroit. She also worked at the Detroit Zoo and with the Department of Natural Resources as a Marketing and Outreach Guide for the outdoor education Stepping Stones program. In this capacity, she served as a leader and provided educational programs such as archery, water studies, nature exploration, camping and angling.

Cheyenne graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
