Dr. Chris Downes is Policy and Law Lead Expert – Sustainable Agri-Food Systems at COLEACP. He has 20 years consultancy experience of working with EU institutions on food law and agricultural trade issues. He holds an MA in European Politics from the University of Brussels (1996) and LLM in International Law from the University of Kent (2005). He completed a doctorate at the University of Kent in 2012, specialising in WTO sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) regulations and their impact on European regulations. Chris is also a Guest Lecturer at the Brussels School of International Studies, University of Kent, where he teaches International Trade Law. He is a contributing subject matter expert in IFLR's course Codex Alimentarius - The Wold Food Code (course #FSC 816, Section 730).
