Dawn Earnesty is an Extension Educator of Michigan State University in the Health and Nutrition Institute. Dawn received a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Recreation/ Business in 2004 from Central Michigan University and also received a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Michigan State University in 2007. Dawn then went on to earn her Master’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with Dietetics from Eastern Illinois University in 2008 and gained her registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) credential in 2009. She is currently enrolled as a PhD student at MSU in the department of Nutrition and Food Science pursuing a doctorate in Human Nutrition. Dawn has been with Extension since 2008 working in Saginaw County (District 9). She has taught direct education for pre-diabetes education, personal actions toward health, worksite wellness, food safety, CPR and various nutrition and physical activity topics since her start at MSU Extension. Dawn currently provides statewide leadership and supervision for SNAP-ED nutrition education and physical activity focused on worksite Wellness and policies, system and environmental changes with childcare providers. She authored the My Way to Wellness online nutrition education course and is working on an eXtension grant to further develop online learning in Extension. She is a certified work@health trainer and currently serves as a co-investigator on a Rural Health and Safety Education grant focused on worksite wellness with school employees.
