After graduating from Central Michigan University in 2005, Megan volunteered for Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms in France for several months. Upon her return to the U.S., she worked as a farm apprentice on a small farm in Western Massachusetts and as a Program Associate with the Massachusetts Farm to School Project during the winter. She returned to Michigan in 2007 as an AmeriCorps volunteer with Greening of Detroit.

After three years of working as a farmer with Greening and completing the Organic Farming Certificate Program at MSU, she started Hand Sown Farm with her husband in Manchester, MI. From 2010-2018, Megan managed their 4 acre, certified organic vegetable and flower farm with the help of three apprentices each season.

As a Beginning Farmer Program Manager she worked part time to help develop workshops around the state for new and beginning farmers.
