Lorelei’s home department is Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures, and her research interests include pedagogy, access, and trauma-informed teaching. Lorelei earned a PhD in Rhetoric and Writing from Michigan State University, an MA in Writing and Rhetoric from DePaul University, and a BA in English and Spanish from Purdue University. Some of her more interesting former careers include teen librarian, professional writer, and writing center coordinator.

Lorelei is a native of Chicago, and travels home often. When not teaching or doing academic research, she enjoys photography, travel, thinking deeply about life, stopping to smell flowers, and making friends with every dog that comes her way. She is also currently working on a children’s book project and writing a screenplay.
