Elisabeth Schubiger completed her Master in Social Anthropology at University of Bern in 2016. Within the framework of the ‘Ethnography of Land Deals’ project, her thesis explored land-acquisition and institutional change in Siaya County, Kenya. Prior to her arrival in Geneva, she was appointed as research assistant at the Haut Ecole Pédagogique Fribourg for the SNF-funded EDUTRANS project. Her current research focusses on self-accomplishment and local moralities in Turkana, Northern Kenya. Within the framework of the SNF-funded project SALMEA, she studies the imaginations of a prosperous future prompted by local crude oil extraction and the related negotiation of development.
