Research focus:

Haile's research interests include sustainable food packaging, food quality, safety, and value addition of agro-waste. His current dissertation focuses on developing sustainable food packaging materials by incorporating agro-waste as a filler for plastic packaging materials, aiming to mitigate the environmental impact of plastic food packaging waste and agro-waste. Haile is interested in assessing the factors that affect the performance of agro-waste-incorporated packaging materials for food packaging applications. His plan involves developing packaging material containing agricultural waste and characterizing its properties. Furthermore, he will validate the developed packaging material with selected food products. His research also explores potential applications of this packaging material, particularly its use in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) and active packaging.
