Jean Genaw is one of two Michigan State University Extension 4-H Program Coordinators in Monroe County.

Jean’s focus is on positive youth development through experiential learning in the Monroe County 4-H program.

Jean holds a master’s degree of Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Bowling Green State University and a bachelor’s degree in Human Services (emphasis in Early Childhood Education) from Siena Heights College.

Prior to coming to extension in July 2021, Jean worked for Michigan Rehabilitation Services as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for 21 years assisting individuals with disabilities find employment.

Jean is active with 4-H in Wayne County, as a gold level volunteer. As a youth, she participated in the Branch County 4-H fair showing hogs, dairy and poultry and was a member of FFA. Jean was a co-leader for her son’s Cub/Boy Scout troop for 8 years, where she led meetings and planned activities for hiking, fishing, camping, archery, and BB gun.
