Jennifer Roedel
Bio
Jennifer Roedel is a Ph.D. student in Zsofia Szendrei’s lab at Michigan State University. She is broadly interested in habitat management strategies that support the conservation of beneficial insects while deterring pest insects in agricultural systems. During her master’s research, she studied how asparagus agroecosystems can be managed more effectively to control a key insect pest.
In her doctoral research, Roedel is examining how urbanization-related factors, including habitat loss and climate change, influence pollinator communities and pollination efficiency in organic cucurbit production. She is also interested in understanding the social-ecological factors that shape farmer perspectives and how those views influence pollinator management decisions and resulting pollinator communities.
