Biography:

Jiahao Song is a Ph.D. student in the Li Laboratory, which focuses on the chemical communication, behavior ecology, genomics and biological invasion of sea lamprey.

Prior to studying at MSU, he received his Master's degree at Xiamen University, China, majoring in Marine Biology. His research direction during the Master stage was about the conservation biology of sea turtles in China. After finishing his graduate study, he continued his turtle research as a research assistant.

Now his research is about the genomic regulation of reproduction, development, or life history strategies in sea lamprey and zebrafish, as well as developing and evaluating the efficacy of approaches to generate genetically modified sea lamprey. His dream is to better understand the molecular and physiological mechanisms of lamprey’s behaviors, so as to control the population of invasive species and promote the development of fisheries of the world.
