Jonathan's background has been primarily focused on the conservation of aquatic species in San Francisco Bay. He has worked extensively on drivers of decline for imperiled fish species, mainly Delta Smelt and Longfin Smelt, but has also worked on green and white sturgeon and several species of trout. Most recently, for his Master's degree, he studied a large scale wetland restoration project in South San Francisco Bay to understand how restoration efforts impacted the local community of fish and macroinvertebrates. The focus of his research at MSU will be on Chronic Wasting Disease in deer, evaluating how movement behavior and population dynamics influence disease spread.
