Katelyn (Kate) King is a Michigan State University Extension 4-H Program Coordinator in Wexford County. She has worked in this capacity since October 2021.

In this role, Kate provides leadership and management of local 4-H programs, volunteers, and youth participants in Wexford County. She promotes and strengthens the Wexford County 4-H program by developing programs and partnerships, promoting and evaluating 4-H programs, and recruiting statewide opportunities and information is available to local participants.

Prior to joining MUS Extension, Kate completed two AmeriCorps terms with Huron Pines AmeriCorps serving with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in Central Michigan.

A Michigan native that grew up in South Central Pennsylvania, Kate holds a B.S. in environmental science and biology from Dickinson College and brings with her a background in natural resource management and environmental education. Kate has had many adventures that bring a unique perspective to Wexford County, including being a Rotary International Exchange Student to Germany in high school for a year, studying in Germany for a second year in college, and building trails for the U.S. Forest Service on Colorado Springs’ Pikes Peak. In her free time, Kate enjoys crafting and upcycling, exploring Northern Michigan, and spending time with her partner, John, and cat, Lilith.
