Leah LaVanway is a Michigan State University Extension 4-H program coordinator in Charlevoix County - District 14.  She has served in this role since 2010.

In her role as 4-H program coordinator, Leah provides leadership and management of local 4-H programs, volunteers, and youth participants in Charlevoix County. She promotes and strengthens the Charlevoix County 4-H program by developing programs and partnerships, promoting and evaluating 4-H programs, and recruiting and training volunteers. Leah is also the liaison from the state Michigan 4-H office helps to ensure that statewide opportunities and information is available to local participants.

Leah grew up in Charlevoix County's 4-H program, starting with a bunny and a pony.  She then expanded her projects to include rabbits, chickens, ducks, sheep, horses, goats, community service, and several leadership roles in her club and county program.

Before joining MSU Extension in 2010, Leah received a bachelor’s degree from Lake Superior State University in 2005 in Early Childhood and Elementary Education with minors in Sociology, Social Studies, and Political Science.  Leah spent many years as a preschool teacher and director before her family settled back in Boyne City.  Her areas of expertise are: 4-H sports & fitness programming, youth run (adult guided) 4-H boards, volunteer central and mental health programming awareness for youth.
