Working within a sustainable food system paradigm, Maria provides farm to consumer businesses with expert-level counseling, education and connections to funding & financing opportunities. Maria has 12 years experience as an urban farmer, value-added food producer and non-profit Program and Fund Coordinator. She hails from Pittsburgh, PA and comes to MSU from Penn State Extension's Business Management Unit where she supported farm and food entrepreneurial and finance development as a Sr Extension Educator.
Maria now works across the Center for Regional Food Systems, MSU Product Center and the Michigan Good Food Fund with a focus on increasing Black, Indigenous, People of Color, Women-Owned and LGBTQ+ farm and food businesses in Southwest Michigan.
