Dr. Everett is a Professor of Practice, Adviser, and Internship Coordinator within the Department of Community Sustainability at Michigan State University.

Dr. Everett’s research interests include the application of social-psychological theories to Conservation Education and Human Dimensions of Wildlife and Ecosystems. Additionally, Dr. Everett utilizes Teaching-as-Research (TAR) and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) to assist in the developmental process of teaching and learning for undergraduate classroom instruction. Dr. Everett’s assists students in the advising process. Michael's primary role in advising is assisting AFNRE students through their program. However, Dr. Everett also advises for students in the Environmental Studies and Sustainability and Sustainable Parks, Recreation and Tourism majors. Outreach activities for Dr. Everett include developing and being the current coordinator for the Department of Community Sustainability and College of Agriculture and Natural Resources - Arthur Berkey Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Science Fair. The Arthur Berkey AFNR Science Fair is held annually at the Michigan State FFA Convention as the qualification contest for the National FFA Agriscience Fair. Additionally, Michael continues to holds chair roles for various Michigan FFA Career Development Events. Dr. Everett also developed and is the current coordinator for the Michigan FFA Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Career Development Event held each fall.
