I have been at Michigan State University (MSU) for 19 years. My position focuses on pathogens of fishes in the Aquatic Animal Health Laboratory (AAHL) in the Departments of Pathobiology & Diagnostic Investigation, College of Veterinary Medicine, and Fisheries and Wildlife, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. My work includes aquatic animal health research and diagnostics. Prior to the AAHL, I was the Aquarium Curator at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island, Outer Banks, NC and Elasmobranch and Coral Reef biologist at The Florida Aquarium, Tampa, FL. I also lived in San Juan, Puerto Rico, directed sea turtle and marine mammal stranding teams, established otter and bird of prey training programs, and served on the NC Dive Safety Board. I am a SCUBA rescue diver and have logged over 5,000 saltwater dives.
