Mikaela Shutter-Trexell is a graduate student researching the phenology, host preference, and biological control of lily leaf beetle (Lilioceris lilii). She is also investigating restoration options for invasive swallow-wort vines.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in entomology and horticulture from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her interest in biological control developed through research experiences in vegetable entomology in the Groves Lab at UW–Madison and in the entomology lab at Bayer Crop Science. She is passionate about developing innovative and sustainable solutions to manage invasive species.
