As a doctoral student in the Department of Community Sustainability, Olivia has a graduate assistantship working with the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR) education team. She received her B.S. in agricultural education from North Carolina State University and her M.S. from Utah State University in agricultural extension and education. For her thesis research, she utilized survey research methodology to study school-based agricultural educators’ attitudes and needs toward working with gifted students.
In her current role, Olivia engages with the pre-service AFNR teacher education program and professional development for in-service AFNR educators. She is funded through various grant projects involving curriculum development and is currently developing a curriculum tool for AFNR educators in Michigan. Olivia’s current research interests include contextualizing giftedness in AFNR education, curriculum development, and community engaged scholarship.
