Guest Lecturer, Codex Alimentarius - the World Food Code

Peggy S. Rochette served as Senior Director of International Affairs for the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) [formerly known as the National Food Processors Association (NFPA)]. In that role, she managed trade and regulatory issues to support the import and export interests of over 400 food companies and had expertise in international regulatory trends and requirements. GMA/NFPA has been actively involved in the work of Codex Alimentarius since the 1960's. Peggy has served as an industry advisor to the U.S. delegation for several Codex Committees and provides leadership for the U.S. Food Industry Codex Coalition. Peggy was also a member of several Washington based coalitions dedicated to facilitating trade in agricultural products and engaged in influencing the development of U.S. regulation and legislation.

GMA/NFPA represents the $500 billion food processing industry on scientific and public policy issues involving food safety, food security, nutrition, technical and regulatory matters and consumer affairs. GMA/NFPA supports the interests of over 400 member companies in government and regulatory affairs, research, technical services, education, communications and crisis management. GMA/NFPA members produce a wide variety of processed and packaged foods and beverages that are marketed in domestic and international markets.

Prior to joining GMA/NFPA in 1996, Peggy served as the Director of Government Affairs for the National Grocers Association (NGA) where she represented the retail and distribution sector of the food industry. Peggy has a B.S. degree from Cornell University.
