Phillip Seaborn is one of the Assistant Directors for Undergraduate Diversity in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR). In his role, Seaborn oversees the CANR Multicultural Apprenticeship Program (MAP) pre-college program. He also is a part of the CANR Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion supporting those initiatives across the college.

Seaborn serves as co-advisor for the MSU chapter of the Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) organization. He provides advising support, guidance and mentorship to undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds and works with the college to examine and address diversity, equity and inclusion concerns at the undergraduate level. He is involved in community engagement and outreach to youth and families from underrepresented communities in an effort to establish educational and career pathways to the agricultural and natural resource professions.

Seaborn has worked in higher education for over 10 years assisting students with differing major and career interests identify student success and overcome college related transitional challenges. Prior to the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Phillip served as the lead advisor for the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program in the MSU College of Nursing. Additionally, he served as a team member and academic advisor for the Nursing Workforce Diversity program.

From Grand Valley State University, Seaborn earned a master of education degree in college student affairs and leadership and a bachelor of science degree in advertising and public relations.

Additionally, Seaborn is an ex-officio member of the CANR DEI Committee.
