Pin Lu is a Ph.D. candidate in the Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics Department of Michigan State University. His fields of interest contain risk, insurance, water management and food safety.

Pin’s job market paper focuses on the effect of basis risk on participation rates in the U.S. federal crop insurance program. He is also working on the effect of biased premium rate-setting on participation rates. He is comfortable with advanced applied econometrics and statistics approaches for sample selection and simulation.
