Samuel Cho
Samuel Cho is the Associate Director for Undergraduate Programs, providing academic advising and support to help students transition and succeed early in their studies. He oversees major college events, including Fall Welcome, Commencement, and the Agriculture and Natural Resources Distinguished Alumni Award & Scholarship Event. Cho also leads New Student Orientation (NSO), working closely with advisors and MSU’s NSO team.
Cho supports the Demmer Scholars Program and contributes to university initiatives focused on student success, equity, and retention. Additionally, he coordinates the Undergraduate Research Program- overseeing student selection, reporting, and engagement efforts.
Prior to his current role, Cho served as Lead Advisor and Education Abroad Coordinator, overseeing more than 1,000 undergraduate students majoring in Communication. He also supervised faculty-directed and Direct Enroll study abroad programs, including site visits to create partnerships, course evaluations, and, most importantly, promoting study abroad opportunities to undergraduate students.
Before his time at MSU, Cho held advising and admissions roles at Purdue University (College of Engineering), Grand Valley State University, and Grand Rapids Community College. He earned both bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Grand Valley State University.
Outside of work, Cho is an avid board gamer who spends considerable time hosting board game nights. He attends board game conventions to promote new games and collaborates with developers to test & help developing their games. Cho is also a collector of physical movies and enjoys watching films with his wife and two dogs.
