My research focuses on the chemical ecology and pest management of invasive forest insect pests. Much of my research involves developing trapping and detection tools for woodboring insects including emerald ash borer. I am also involved in research on developing a breeding program for ash trees resistant to emerald ash borer and evaluating volatile, nutritional, and defense chemistry of ash trees to understand mechanisms of host attraction and resistance. I am also involved in research to evaluate area-wide control of emerald ash borer using a combination of insecticides and biological control with egg and larval parasitoids.
