Advisor: Laura Schmitt Olabisi
Udita is pursuing her doctoral degree in the Department of Community Sustainability with a specialization in Environment Science and Policy. She has a master’s degree in Ecology from Utah State University and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Biotechnology from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra in India.
Currently, she is working with Dr Olabisi on an NSF-funded project “"Participatory ensemble modeling to study the multiscale social and behavioral dynamics of food security in dryland West Africa". For her dissertation work, Udita is keen on understanding the differential vulnerability and adaptive capacity of rural farmers to climatic shocks and their mental models of climatic risk perception and decision-making. She is interested in exploring the social, environmental, economic as well as the behavioral and cognitive aspects of the response of farmers to climate change using system dynamics and agent based modelling approaches.
