Join Trey and Aleks for a discussion with Dr. Kevin Munger, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Social Data Analytics at Pennsylvania State University, who describes the new media landscape - from national news to social media - and its impact on politics and polarization.

"If we are moving to a world where there’s very little local news and loss of differentiation in national news, the way that these different media companies compete is by offering different ideological products. The fact that if you’re in a rural area and the internet and changing media technology has meant that there’s not an economics of local news, if you’re going to consume news, it’s going to be national news. That leads to polarization because national news, that’s going to be partisan." Dr. Kevin Munger
