Dr. Heidi Schweizer of NC State explains the economic significance of the Suez Canal blockage and discusses ways to increase the resilience of global shipping infrastructure. 

"The Suez Canal is one part of a big system and I would say that certainly during 2020 everyone has shifted from ‘just-in-time supply chains to just-in-case supply chains. If you have a just-in-case supply chain then a week hiccup isn’t going to affect you potentially. But if you have a just-in-time supply chain and you can’t operate your factory, then a week is a big problem." Dr. Heidi Schweizer
