Immunization Education Programs


Intended for physicians, nurses, medical assistants, provider office staff, and healthcare professional students and can be presented at a variety of locations such as: grand rounds, medical staff meetings, conferences, provider offices, and classrooms. Continuing education credits (CME, CNE) are available. Please see brochure for more information.


Physician Peer Education Project on Immunization (PPEPI) 

Free Immunization Education Sessions for Physicians:
Healthcare providers and their staff need to know the most current information on vaccines, immunization recommendations, and schedules. The Physician Peer Education Project on Immunization (PPEPI) offers 1-hour immunization updates presented by practicing physicians at no cost to you. Keep up-to-date by scheduling one of these free, accredited 1-hour educational sessions:

• Pediatrics (birth-18 years)
• Adult (19 years and older)
• Family Medicine
• Vaccines for Women’s Health (OB/Gyn)
• Pediatric and Adult Influenza
• Vaccines for Healthcare Personnel
• HPV Recommendations
• Promoting Vaccine Confidence

Sessions Include Information On:

• Current immunization recommendations
• Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) immunization schedules
• Vaccine-preventable disease burden
• Vaccine safety
• Strategies to increase immunization rates
• Motivational interviewing

Immunization Nurse Education Program (INE)

Free Immunization Education Sessions for Office Staff:
In addition to the PPEPI program, Immunization Nurse Educators (INE) from both the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Local Health Departments (LHDs) provide free 1- to 2-hour immunization education sessions to provider office staff throughout the state of Michigan. Topics include:
• Vaccine Administration, 1 Hour
• Vaccine Management: Storage and Handling, 1 Hour
• Pediatric and Adult Influenza, 1 Hour
• Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program, 1 Hour
• Infants and Children (birth-10 years), 1.25 Hours
• Adolescent (11-18 years), 1.25 Hours
• Adult (19 years and older), 1.25 Hours
• Vaccinating Women Across the Lifespan (OB/Gyn), 1.25 Hours
• Vaccine Accountability, 1.25 Hours
• Hepatitis A-E, 1.5 Hours
• Vaccines Across the Lifespan (all ages), 2 Hours

Sessions Include Information On:
• Current immunization recommendations
• CDC immunization schedules
• Best practices for vaccine management and vaccine administration
• Vaccine safety
