This fact sheet helps parents and other adults who work with or care for children understand the process of “grooming” or manipulating children in order to abuse them. It is part of the “Keeping Kids Safe” series that is designed for parents and adults who work with kids from birth to age 17. The fact sheet covers issues related to how sexual predators groom children, adults, families, and communities to make it easier for themselves to abuse children and discusses how to recognize potential grooming attempts.
