  • Height: 50’
  • Spread: 40’
  • Site characteristics: Full to partial sun; moist, well-drained acidic soils
  • Zone: 5a - 9a
  • Wet/dry: Prefers moist, but will tolerate intermittent drought; adaptable to adverse soil conditions
  • Native range: Central United States
  • pH: 5.0 - 7.5
  • Shape: Broadly oval
  • Foliage: Dark green, glossy
  • Fall color: Yellowish-to-rusty red
  • Additional: Slow to recover from transplanting, transplants better in spring
  • Pests: Anthracnose, canker, powdery mildew, rust, wilt, galls, scales, borers, and miners may be a problem on occasion.
