4-H medals

Sanilac County 4-H Council Trip/Event Scholarship--ongoing requests
Sanilac County 4-H members and volunteers wishing to attend leadership development training opportunities such as volunteer and teen leader workshops, Exploration Days, National Congress, Citizenship Washington Focus or any other 4-H sponsored event are encouraged to submit a trip/event scholarship application to 4-H Council to request financial assistance to pay registration fees for events.  All applications must be presented at a 4-H Council meeting prior to the scheduled event. The applicant is responsible for covering all expenses not awarded by 4-H Council for their event. Most scholarship awards are paid as reimbursement once the applicant has attended an event. All scholarship funds will be revoked if the applicant no-shows without cancellation for an event.

Sanilac County 4-H Citizenship and Leadership Development Award--TBA for 2022

4-H Citizenship programs empower young people to be well-informed citizens who are actively engaged in their communities and world. Youth who understand their role in civic affairs have a solid foundation to become astute leaders for the 21st century in their current and future endeavors. The Sanilac County 4-H Citizenship and Leadership Development Award provides funding from multiple sources to ensure Sanilac County 4-H members have the opportunity to attend 4-H National Congress, 4-H Citizenship Washington Focus and 4-H Capitol Experience. Applications are due April 15 and interviews will be scheduled at Spring Fair. 

4-H County Ambassador Programs--applications for all age divisions due May 2, 2022
Sanilac County offers 4-H members at every age an opportunity to represent and promote the county 4-H program. Roles may include, but are not limited to: appearances at local events and parades representing 4-H, media interviews, assisting with fair event and presenting about 4-H to local representatives or community organizations. Serving in any of these ambassador roles is a one-year commitment. See details below for each age division.

  • 5-7 years old
    Cloverbud Ambassadors are announced during Spring Fair.  All Cloverbud members are eligible to participate as Cloverbud Ambassadors. Cloverbuds will receive a Cloverbud Ambassador t-shirt. 
  • 8 years old through 8th grade
    Junior Ambassadors are announced during Spring Fair.  Junior Ambassadors will have the opportunity to participate in team building, community service and leadership development throughout the year.
  • 9 grade through 18 years old
    Senior Ambassadors are announced during Spring Fair.  Senior Ambassadors will have the opportunity to participate in team building, community service and leadership development throughout the year. 


Sanilac County 4-H County Awards
4-H County Awards are opportunity to recognize the 4-H youth in Sanilac County for their outstanding efforts in the 4-H program. In addition to providing recognition, the awards application process can also serve as an educational experience for youth as they learn to complete an awards application and request a letter of recommendation. Members will apply their skills in communication, organization and self-motivation.

The County Awards recognition event will be held November TBD, 2021, 1-5 p.m. at the Sanilac FFA Building at the Fairgrounds.  ALL AWARD APPLICATIONS DUE TO THE SANILAC COUNTY MSU EXTENSION OFFICE BY 4:30 P.M. November 1, 2021)  The 2021 County Awards Program will recognize the involvement and achievements of 4-H members during the past 4-H year (Sept. 2020-Aug 2021); all award applications should reflect accomplishments of stated time period.

2021 Sanilac County 4-H Awards Packet (complete packet and overview of awards)

Starting in 2019, 4-H volunteers are recognized at the county volunteer appreciation event for their years of service to the 4-H program.  Date and location to be announced; anticipated time frame is February.

Michigan 4-H State Awards

Michigan 4-H State Awards Program offers an opportunity for 4-H members ages 11-19 to be recognized for their learning and achievements in 4-H. The State Awards program includes the Mark of Excellence Award (11-12-year-olds), Junior Individual Awards (13-15-year-olds), Senior Individual Awards (16-19-year-olds) and Group Awards (13-19-year-olds). Michigan 4-H Scholarships

View available scholarship opportunities for Michigan 4-H members at the website including 4-H Senior Scholarship to MSU ($10,000 over 4 years); MSU Pre-college Scholarship ($2,000) for youth entering 8-10 grades the fall following attendance at 4-H Exploration Days, Great Lakes and Natural Resources Camp, Renewable Energy Camp or Animal and Vet Science Camp; and Michigan 4-H Rabbit and Cavy Scholarship (amount varies).
