  • Bees, Building Early Emotional Skills, for Early Childhood Professionals

    BEES for Early Childhood Professionals is an opportunity to learn more about how children develop important social emotional skills and how you can help them learn to understand and express their emotions appropriately. We will talk about dealing with your stress as a caregiver and handling tantrums, biting and other troublesome behaviors of young children. You will learn about the important role you play in helping young children feel safe and secure as they learn to navigate their strong emotions. BEES is a MiRegistry–approved training. Digital course materials are provided at no cost. A certificate for 8 hours of training is available upon successful course completion.

    The SFI Logger training was developed to provide those in the logging industry a way to receive professional development certification as in-person training was unavailable in spring 2020 due to restrictions resulting from the Novel Coronavirus.

    The online Home Food Preservation course will help home food preservers avoid dangerous, life-threatening contamination of foods. Individuals will feel confident in processing their produce and feeding their families safe, healthy foods. Home food preservation stimulates the local economy by encouraging locally grown and purchased foods and for individuals and families to grow their own gardens.

  • Emergency Response to Accident Involving Livestock virtual training

    This virtual training provides participants with the information needed to effectively and efficiently respond to an accident where animals are involved.

  • Manure Hauler Certification Program

    The certification program creates a clear pathway for farms and for-hire manure applicators (firms) to move from training, to certification, to third party audit (incentivized by reductions in insurance premiums) without implementing a mandatory program. There are three levels to the certification program. Passing the online course with a score of 80% or more is one of two components of becoming Level 1 certified.

  • Michigan Eyes on the Forest Sentinel Tree Network

    The Michigan Eyes on the Forest Sentinel Tree Network presentations provide information about invasive forest pests that could have a detrimental effect on Michigan’s forest health. Instruction for individual monitoring of a “sentinel tree” for early detection of forest pests is also provided. The length of the program can vary from one to three hours. The program is grant funded, allowing us to provide it at no cost.

    The goal of RELAX: Alternatives to Anger is to help young people, parents and caregivers foster healthy relationships so they can live, learn and grow in a safe, affirming and fair environment free from violence, abuse, bullying and harassment. Youth, parents and caregivers will learn to better manage their anger and stress at home and in the workplace.

  • ONLINE National Diabetes Prevention Program

    This course is designed for people who are at-risk for developing type 2 diabetes. The focus is on establishing lifestyle changes that promote slow, steady weight loss including healthy eating, physical activity and goal setting.

  • Online College of Knowledge

    These online, self-paced courses provide basic training to floriculture growers in Michigan and beyond in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Each section consists of recorded lectures, self-assessment quizzes and links to more information.

  • Empower U!

    This course guides participants through the process of addressing invasive species on public land through policy or leadership action. Participants learn how to present logical arguments to local decision-makers regarding the presence of invasive species while offering possible solutions to eliminate the issue. Upon completion of the course, participants will have created a strategic plan to engage a local decision-maker on an issue of importance. This is a hybrid self-paced online course with in-person (or virtual) instruction provided over the five-week period.

  • Extension Master Gardener Training

    The MSU Extension Master Gardener Program is an adult horticulture education and volunteer leader training program committed to improving science-based horticulture information in communities throughout the state. This course is currently being offered via Zoom and D2L.

  • Commercial Floriculture Growers: College of Knowledge

    MSU Extension offers the noncredit pre-recorded online courses in the College of Knowledge Series twice yearly (summer and winter). The online courses provide basic training to the commercial floriculture growers in Michigan and beyond in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Currently, four English courses and three Spanish courses are available in the series.

    This is a 15-week short course for those with an interest in developing or maintaining a successful equine-based business. Course topics include accounting systems, tax law, business plans and more. This course is typically offered both in-person and online.

  • Introduction to Lakes

    Introduction to Lakes is a six-week online course specially designed for lake users, lakefront property owners and lake managers interested in learning about inland lakes. From the comfort of home or office, participants have 24/7 access to six online units complete with closed-captioned video lectures, interactive activities, additional resources, discussion forums, quizzes and live chat sessions with classmates and MSU Extension experts.

  • Smart Gardening with Vegetables 101

    This course covers gardening from start to finish: what you need to get started, types of gardening, planning and preparation, soil preparation, plants to select, starting and maintaining healthy plants, garden maintenance, harvest and storage, pollinators and various gardening activities.

  • A Practical Guide to Scouting Apple Orchards

    A Practical Guide to Scouting Apple Orchards Online Course was developed by MSU Extension and builds off of the original DVD produced by MSU's Integrated Pest Management Program Office. The goal of this course is to provide users with the knowledge needed to effectively, efficiently and safely scout apple orchards.

    The MSU Extension Citizen Planner Program offers land use education for locally appointed and elected planning officials and interested residents throughout Michigan. This noncredit course leads to a certificate of completion awarded by MSU Extension.

  • Michigan Master Naturalist Course

    The MSU Extension Michigan Master Naturalist Program is available to all persons interested in understanding and conserving the native ecology of the state beginning in their own backyards. Local programs are coordinated by local partner groups throughout the state. The course is delivered in monthly sessions over a period of six months.
