    Conflict, Collaboration & Consensus in Natural Resource Issues is a course offered by Michigan State University Extension designed to help natural resource professionals gain confidence and competence in helping groups and communities productively address contentious natural resource issues.

  • Food Preservation

    The online Home Food Preservation course will help home food preservers avoid dangerous, life-threatening contamination of foods. Individuals will feel confident in processing their produce and feeding their families safe, healthy foods. Home food preservation stimulates the local economy by encouraging locally grown and purchased foods and for individuals and families to grow their own gardens.

  • Homeownership Education

    HUD-certified housing counselors educate potential, current and future home buyers to understand the complex buying process and learn the true costs of responsible home ownership. This four-hour course covers all aspects of selecting, financing and closing on your first home. Participants learn about the ins and outs of this important purchase. Spotting predatory lending and fraudulent practices are also discussed. An educated consumer will be more confident and successful with making important personal and financial decisions about homeownership. Scholarships are available based on income for the $25 cohort course. The on-demand course is $89.

  • Hop Production in Midwest and Eastern North America

    The last decade has seen a rapid expansion of hop acreage outside the traditional North American production regions. To assist prospective hop producers in understanding the challenges and complexity of hop production, the Great Lakes Hop Working Group has developed a comprehensive introductory course focused on production in reemerging regions including the northern Plains, Great Lakes and Northeast.

  • How to Grow Lavender: A Curriculum for Farmers

    This self-paced online course provides a comprehensive introduction to lavender production for beginning growers and extends the opportunity for existing growers to learn from nationally recognized experts with respect to regional diversity.

  • Integrated Pest Management Academy

    The Desire to Learn Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Academy is an interactive, online program designed to provide a comprehensive and convenient online learning experience. Current topics include an introduction to IPM, plant science, soils 101, natural enemies, conserving pollinators, Enviroweather and scouting.

  • Introduction to Lakes Online

    Introduction to Lakes Online is a six-week online course specially designed for lake users, lakefront property owners and lake managers interested in learning about inland lakes. From the comfort of home or office, participants have 24/7 access to six online units complete with closed-captioned video lectures, interactive activities, additional resources, discussion forums, quizzes and live chat sessions with classmates and MSU Extension experts. The course is typically offered in January.

  • Michigan 4-H Embryology Course

    This course is designed for teachers, homeschool groups, community partners, 4-H leaders, and other caring adults to teach youth about the science of hatching eggs and provide resources for your own hatching if desired!

  • Michigan Cottage Food Law

    The Michigan Cottage Food Law allows Michigan residents to manufacture and store certain foods in unlicensed home kitchens. Through this training, you will learn about preparing and selling foods under the Michigan Cottage Food Law. In addition, the course reviews important food safety practices when preparing and selling food to the public.

  • RELAX: Alternatives to Anger

    The goal of RELAX: Alternatives to Anger is to help young people, parents and caregivers foster healthy relationships so they can live, learn and grow in a safe, affirming and fair environment free from violence, abuse, bullying and harassment. Youth, parents and caregivers will learn to better manage their anger and stress at home and in the workplace.
