OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU As farmers of a certified organic farm, we promise to grow your produce using only organic methods. We will listen to your feedback and take it into consideration as we continue to perfect the art of running a year-round CSA! Just as you agree to share our risks with us, we agree to share the benefits of a successful season with you. All communications will come from the Student Organic Farm via email.
YOUR COMMITMENT TO US I understand that farming is unpredictable and that crops and quantities will vary by week and will change as the seasons do. In joining the SOF CSA, I agree to share the risks inherent in farming with my farmers. I understand that there will be variations in quantity and quality of produce, depending on the fluctuations of the weather and other uncontrollable factors. I agree to pay my membership cost in full and will submit payments on time. I will pick up my produce from the farm each week during the scheduled time, and I understand that I need to send a friend to pick my share up or place a vacation hold on my share if I cannot make it to distribution; if I do not do so, there is no guarantee my share will be saved for me. If I choose to split my share with someone, it is my responsibility as the primary member to communicate all important information to my share partner. I understand that my share payment is nonrefundable and must be paid in full.
Payment: We use a program called Local Line to help manage the financial interactions between our customers and our farm. With it, Student Organic Farm members have online access to their own accounts. We accept payment via check sent in the mail or by credit card through PayPal. We can only accept payments by mail or online credit card payment. Please do not bring cash or checks to Distribution sites.
Refund / Credit: CSA payments are nonrefundable and must be paid in full at the start of each session. That being said, if you have an unexpected circumstance that prevents you from picking up your share for an extended period, please contact us as soon as possible. We will review your request and determine if we can make an accommodation.
Referral Credit: We value your loyalty and would like to reward you for spreading the word. If you refer someone to our program, ask them to mention your name on signup, and we will give you an $25 referral credit.
Communication: The Student Organic Farm publishes a weekly newsletter that subscribers receive via email. The newsletter will announce any important changes in delivery schedule, prices, policies, etc. By agreeing to join our CSA, you are also agreeing to read email communications from us including:
Notice of session ending
Site changes / updates
Special announcements (new items available in CSA store, delivery changes due to holidays, etc.)
Please add msufarm@msu.edu to your address book to protect our communications from spam filters.
Pick-up Etiquette: The Student Organic Farm relies heavily on both our farm on campus pick-up sites, and we ask everyone observe the pick-up times carefully and be respectful to the sites. Doors or gates may be locked during other times. If you do not pick up your share during the designated hours, it is not guaranteed that you will receive it. Each pickup site has a checklist where subscribers mark off their name when they pick up their shares each week. It is our way of communicating to you whether a share was delivered for you, and what size. We can only accept payments by mail or online credit card payment. Please do not leave any checks or correspondence at the on-campus pickup site.
Scheduling a Hold: If you are not able to pick up your share while on vacation, out of town, or for another reason, you may place up to two vacation holds per session. This means we will pack a double share of the week of your choosing's harvest for you. Friends or family members are also always welcome to pick up a share in your place; please let them know to check off your name upon signing in and inform them of our pick-up policies.
CSA Breaks: We take a break during the winter holidays, as well as in late winter/early spring. Crops during this time are either depleted or too young to provide a satisfactory CSA share. You are not charged for these break weeks, as they fall between sessions.
Other Holiday Changes: Distribution for Thanksgiving is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Other holiday schedule changes will be communicated through our newsletter.
