Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

School of Planning, Design and Construction:
Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The mission of the School is to “advance the knowledge, prepare innovative leaders, and support the practice of planning, design, and construction.” One of our core values is to embrace and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the delivery of this mission. We are committed to creating inclusive learning environment that prepares future leaders who are representative of, and work effectively with, diverse populations and strive to achieve equitable and inclusive outcomes. We strive to conduct research that takes into account historical inequities and exclusionary practices in our society, as well as underrepresentation of some populations in the community development process. We are dedicated to engaging alumni, stakeholders, and communities in outreach activities that recognize and celebrate difference and use democratic processes to achieve sustainable and healthy built, natural and virtual environments for all.
