Modern Vacation Home Project: The Lorien House

Description

The goal of this project will be to design a vacation home used as a rental unit for two guests at a time. The home will have a modern interior and exterior style, and will include high-end finish materials and amenities. The interior will be designed as an open floor plan and include an open loft area.

Concept Statement

The Lorien house will be located in Queenstown, New Zealand, to serve as a vacation home for young professionals. The goal of the design is to integrate a modern style into old fashioned surroundings to appeal to a younger demographic, wile uncompromising the natural beauty of the building’s surroundings. The design will be neat, clean and comfortable to provide a relaxing and serene space, and will incorporate high-end finishes and materials to enhance the design quality. Elements, such as the geometric form of the building, angled and crisp lines, smooth textures and visual balance, will all contribute to the clean, modern aesthetic.

Technical Statement

This project has been created using various forms of medium including: Hand sketching, Sketch Up, Shaderlight, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
