Your wellbeing as a family care partner/caregiver is the foundation of your life and directly tied to the wellbeing of the person in your care. The ability to respond to challenges with resilience and confidence allows us to enjoy our lives in the midst of caregiving and through the inevitable ups and downs. This flexibility is fostered by the quality of our connections and requires an ongoing commitment to personal wellbeing overtime.
Unfortunately, your health and happiness may feel sidelined by the demands of caregiving. It is hard for caregivers to find what they need when they need it most.
Please explore the following doorways to the programming and information you need to stay well, calm and connected.
What is THRIVE?
In addition to a vibrant network, THRIVE (Tailoring Healthy Resources through In-Person Instruction and Virtual Education) is prioritizing your wellbeing. Caregivers need to be well, healthy, calm and responsive in order to make important decisions, activate resources and participate in the connection and support available. In other words, how you thrive directly impacts how the person in your care will thrive. Learn more about THRIVE.
Help us Help You
THRIVE has been created in an effort to improve the delivery and availability of caregiver wellness programs in southeast Michigan. We are seeking family caregivers who are caring for someone with a dementia to complete a brief questionnaire about your caregiving journey. Providing this information will help us find which types of programs and services are needed the most, and where these programs are needed in Michigan. We thank you for taking the time to help us.

Michigan State University (MSU) Extension, in collaboration with partners associated with the University of Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Center (MADC), Wayne State University Institute of Gerontology (IOG) and the MSU College of Human Medicine, received grant funding in January 2018 through the Michigan Health Endowment Fund to build an innovative dementia-specific, wellbeing network called THRIVE.
