The position will coordinate private rental events, farm stand sales, public outreach events, and other business ventures needed to support the farm financially. Additionally, the position will process financial transactions such as invoicing, purchase orders, reimbursements, disbursement vouchers, and complete accompanying tracking and reporting. The primary goal for the position is to increase revenue generation through private events, public events, farm-sales, and other business ventures.

We are seeking a staff member to support the administrative and hospitality aspects of the educational programming and rental operations. Most of the time the person will be working rental events to set-up and clean-up buffets. The position will also complete essential financial transactions for the farm and provide administrative support to the farm Director. This is a part time on-call position that will work up to 20 hours per week depending on rental schedule with some consistent hours for administrative support. Scheduling takes places on an as needed basis and is dependent on seasonal program and rental needs.

Educational Leader - Part-time, Year-round, posting closes 1/16/21

This position's key area of responsibility is to assist Michigan State University Extension Tollgate Farm staff with program support and delivery. This is a part-time position that will work 29 hours per week from March through October. The position will maintain consistent hours during the work week. Occasional weekend hours may be required. Farm Apprentice: MSU Extension seeks two candidates to join our Sustainable Agriculture Program team. MSU Tollgate Farm operates 4-acres of diversified vegetable production, Summer and Fall CSAs, and a Beginner Farmer Apprenticeship program. The apprenticeship is an intensive introduction to small-scale vegetable production, equipping participants with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to build a strong foundation in the field. This is a seasonal position with occasional weekend and evening work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, crouch, and bend for extended periods. The employee is required to drive a tractor and gators.
