Life of the Straits: Lighthouses

July 23, 2020

Lighthouses have both fascinated and guided folks from water to safe shores for hundreds of years. In this edition of Life of the Straits, Presque Isle County 4-H Program Coordinator Kaelie Fessler introduces us to the 40 Mile Point Lighthouse.

The unique 40 Mile Point Lighthouse is actually one of the few in the state that has a keeper, who lives in the lighthouse and museum with his family. We hear from keeper Eric Klein about the history of the lighthouse. Then we have a family challenge encouraging you to make your own lighthouse-inspired art. Finally we end with a fun Q&A with the whole Klein family where we learn what it’s like to live at a lighthouse year round.
