American Floral Endowment selects Horticulture Graduate Student for Scholarship

Caleb Spall is awarded the John Carew Memorial Scholarship

The American Floral Endowment (AFE) recently awarded 15 students with scholarships totaling $38,500. MSU horticulture graduate student Caleb Spall received the John Carew Memorial Scholarship. Caleb is working under Dr. Roberto Lopez and expects to complete his master’s degree program in horticulture in August 2022. His focus is on sustainable greenhouse production and he says his plans are to "apply my horticultural knowledge to improve the production of specialty cut flowers internationally".

This scholarship was named after John Carew, former head of the Department of Horticulture at MSU who dedicated his career to encouraging and guiding young horticulturists.
