Amin Joodaky, PhD
Amin Joodaky received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Packaging at Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI.
His field of study encompasses the experimental and analytical mechanics of composite structures, as well as nonlinear dynamics and vibrations. Currently, his primary research areas include the following:
- Capturing and replicating multi-axis vibrations experienced by packages and vehicles during transportation.
- Characterizing and modeling the mechanical properties and dynamic responses of composite packaging structures, such as polymer foams and corrugated boards.
- Designing metamaterials for shock absorption in packaging applications.
- Exploring the application of Artificial Intelligence in the field of packaging dynamics.
Dr. Joodaky is also interested in educational studies such as teaching methods and curriculum designs. He has received a teaching and learning certificate from the School of Engineering Education at Purdue University.
Opening: Master’s and PhD positions, starting Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.
- Basic requirement: A degree in either mechanical / civil engineering (with a solid mechanics focus) or packaging.
