Master of Science

Daedre McGrath completed her master’s degree in Horticulture at Michigan State University, where she researched the use of light-emitting diodes as an energy-efficient lighting alternative for producing photoperiodic ornamental crops. For nearly 10 years, she has been the Trial Manager at the MSU Horticulture Gardens where she is responsible for growing and evaluating new annual, perennial, vegetable, and succulent varieties from breeders across the globe. With her love of teaching and outreach, Daedre has taught undergraduate horticulture and biology courses as well as dozens of gardening workshops, lectures, and industry
presentations. Her areas of specialization include annuals, perennials, cacti, succulents, foliage plants, garden and container design, greenhouse production, plant propagation, and generating engaging experiential learning opportunities for all ages and skill levels.
