Jennifer Weichel is the Volunteer Specialist and Co-Lead for Extension Volunteer Management for Michigan State University Extension. In this role, she focuses on conflict management and the Volunteer Selection Process. She is a Certified Volunteer Administrator.
As a leader for volunteer management and development, she focuses her attention on supporting staff as they recruit and engage volunteers. She is a sought-after presenter for volunteer management and conflict resolution. She has presented at numerous national, state, and local conferences including the National Extension Conference on Volunteerism and the Non-Profit Super Conference. Jennifer has been a facilitator for the Achieving the Extension Mission through Volunteers online course and was part of the development team for the Data-Driven Recruitment Course. She enjoys encouraging and mentoring professionals, developing resources for volunteers, and the volunteer administrators that support them.
She is an active member of the North Central Volunteer Specialist team. She has received numerous awards for her work including the Volunteerism Team Award, Distinguished Service and Meritorious Service Awards from the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Staff.
She has been with MSU Extension since 1994 serving as an Extension Educator, Supervisor, and Coach supporting staff across the state. She has provided leadership for the 4-H State Awards Program, and the 4-H Shooting Sports Program during her tenure.
Jennifer received her master’s degree from the University of Michigan in Public Administration. She was a member of the Volunteerism Area of Expertise Team for MSUE that produced the Achieving Success through Volunteers Curriculum. Jennifer enjoys working with leaders and staff across the state and can often be found serving as a volunteer in her community.
