Western Riding: Day 4

While other groups were learning more riding techniques and grooming our amazing Mango, the other groups got to take a lovely morning Nature Walk,  going through our large Tollgate Farm Forest through the forest and fields, exploring what there is beyond the gardens and camp areas. Since it was the perfect weather, it made it all the better to be outside to enjoy this activity.

The Digestive SystemIMG_6403

This was a teamwork-based activity about the anatomy of the Horse's digestive system. The campers had to take colored chalk and draw out the different parts, starting from the mouth to the tail. They had to measure out each part using feet, to really depict how long the organs can be, especially the intestines! Some groups got super creative, and drew the food throughout the system to show exactly how it might be in each organ.

As an extra treat to our amazing Mango the horse, we made some carrot popsicles (carrots in frozen water) as an extra thing to enjoy while having his 'spa treatment' that is is grooming session in the morning. As always, the other groups took time to learn more about riding, with two horses, Sedona and Grizz. The third horse, Sunny, got to roam around the enclosure, very curious about everything! Sunny even came up to the fence to get some well-deserved pats from our horse campers.

Time to Party!

The rest of the afternoon was dedicated to having fun! This included doing lots of rounds of Horse Bingo, where you had to find the different breeds of horses, and depending on if you were playing Bingo for a full house, a single row, or going diagonally, there were happy screams of "BINGO!" every moment. While that was happening, so was the dance practice for our line dance, that the campers will get to show to their parents for tomorrow's performances from each camp group. It will be so exciting to see!
